After Solvang and before we headed back for an evening in Santa Barbara we went to Cold Springs Tavern on Stagecoach Road, off of the San Marco's pass. How BEAUTIFUL. We were planing on grabing a snack at the resturant there but the kitchen was closed untill dinner time and the only building open was the Tavern.

Cold Springs is a place that Stagecoaches used to stop at for some food and sprits before heading back on their journey. Often bandits would wait along the trail for the Wells Fargo covered wagon to stop and would rob the driver of the contents. None the less the Cold Springs Tavern had remained a well known place for crosscountry bikers to stop and rest in breathtaking beauty. I saw some really big "momercycles."

Again Mom couldn't stop snapping pictures of the scenery. Auntie Mona said that Grandma Mary Lou used to think of Idaho when she saw Cold Springs. She was SURE RIGHT. Mom was taken back and said the air even smelled like her Great Aunt Nancy and Great Uncle Bob's lake cabin up in Northern Idaho. She said the moss, the sights, sounds, everything was reminding her of Idaho. Even the damp ground that made a squish as we walked was great. Dad thought it was neet to have a glimps of what Idaho would be like, I did too. Some day we hope to get there to meet more of my wonderful family.

No your eyes are NOT fooling you. That is a 32 oz. Rib-eye steak. When we were visiting with Auntie and Uncle they treated Mom and Dad to a tasty dinner of "Big Meat." Mom and Dad split the ribeye and still had about half of it to take home. Neither of us had EVER witnessed a steak that big. I slept through most of the dinner and went home with a belly full of delicious breadsticks that I snacked on before I pooped out. Auntie Mona and I were running around outside before we left for dinner and gosh it tired me out BIG TIME.

"There was a little boy who lived in a shoe..." Mom and Dad visited Solvang again. This time I was with them and they put me in this giant Dutch clog infront of the shoe store where I got my new moccasins from. As you can see I was less then pleased to be inside that darn shoe, I did it only to make Mom happy.
Mom and I took a mini road trip a few hours North to Santa Barbra to meet Daddy. We stayed with Auntie Mona and Uncle Sam. We only got to see Daddy for 2 days and 1 night but boy was it a great time.

Mom and I had not witnessed Daddy in his Dress Blues in over a year so Mom took advantage of Daddy in uniform and snapped a few photos.

FYI don't let the ribbons on Dads uniform fool you. He has quite a few more but told mom he was "lazy" getting dressed and was only wearing the one they gave him in boot camp almost 3 1/2 years ago.

Here are a few photos from our trip to Dallas for New Years. What a fun and busy time it was.
